Just bought my specialized stumpjumper comp and I’ve not had a dropper post before. This one’s an x fusion. When I press the lever down to activate the dropper post it makes this metallic clicking sound and sounds like it’s coming from the cables internally. Would it be rubbing and causing problems? Also finding half the time my dropper post doesn’t want to drop.

Looks like you need to adjust the cable to be a bit tighter. You want it tight enough not to have much play if any at all, but not so tight it activates the dropper without you pushing the lever. You should have a dial adjustment on the dropper lever, but I would just loosen the cable at the lever and pull it tight and use that as zero so you can fine tune with the dial adjuster. Should take 3-4 minutes tops to do.
