I’ve recently decided to begin commuting by bicycle again, I’ve never full time commuted. There has been times my regular modes of transportation have failed on me and bicycles would take their place until they were working once again. These have been incredibly happy times of my life, and the mental clarity in those times was always incredible. Recently I had traded my motorcycle for a different one, and the new motorcycle has been nothing but regret. In the past I had a very cheap Walmart mountain bike that lasted me a few years without problem, I picked up a Fuji sagres for $60 due to no longer having a bicycle and hoping to have something nicer than my last experience with the actual commutes. What can I do to improve this bike and make it more sustainable for commuting for a long time?

Awesome! Welcome to the world of bike commuting. That bike is a cool, vintage one and a steal at $60. As you start commuting by bike, you’ll figure out what your needs are as far as accessories or modifications. I would recommend getting a rack and a pannier for carrying any items you need to bring with you on your commutes. I would also recommend adding fenders in case you have to ride in wet weather.
