I tried and failed to go tubeless on the standard wheels on my 2021 Scott Big Jon. I even took it to a bike shop and they didn’t manage to get them to seal either. I don’t want to buy a whole new wheelset so I’ve been looking at tubeless compatible rims so I can reuse the original hubs and spokes. Two have caught my attention:

* [DT Swiss BR 710](https://www.dtswiss.com/en/components/rims-mtb/big-ride/br-710)
* [Alexrims Blizzerk 90](https://alexrims.com/products/blizzerk-90/)

Does anybody have any experience of either of these rims, or a suitable alternative? I need 26″ for 4″ tyres. I already have Schwalbe Jumbo Jim tubeless tyres.

    I’ve had good luck with the Sun Mulefut.

    I use Jumbo Jim 4.8″ tubeless. The biggest part of getting tubeless to work properly is the tape job. Jumbo Jims sidewall is very flexible, which can make getting them to seal a pain as well, but I did it myself.

  2. Get something without cutouts or else the tape will always end up failing eventually, especially in wet snow conditions. I use Corvus carbon rims, they are flawless with tubeless, even at 2 psi or at -40C. Also don’t use Terrenne tires. Their bead is just too loose, they will fail no matter what wheels you use.

  3. there is a hack that worked for me to go tubeless on basically any fat rim (tubeless or not) – stretch wrap tape. its that cheap tape that is used to pack stuff, it stretches, sturdy (when applied in multiple layers). basically wrap 3-9 turns around the rim with mild stretching so its almost flat, put the tire and apply tubeless sealant, pump it up (it will not loose air as its flat on the rim beads in general), and then just cut off the excess. also it weights like nothing. try it?

    google “Tubeless Stretch Wrap” for instructions/photos, mtbr had one topic I was able to find with photos in PDF.
