Probably too little tension in the cable.
If it happened while you were riding around, I’ll take a guess that the pinch bolt at your caliper wasn’t tight enough and the cable has slipped slightly.
Cable tension is loose. As a temporary fix, u coud adjust the barrel adjuster.
