  1. Manufacturers are VERY conservative about what will fit. In my experience, you can always fit the next larger tire size and possibly more pretty easily. There is an EU standard that says the min clearance should be 7mm between the frame/fork and tire on each side. Unless you’re riding a badly out of true wheel or picking up lots of mud you should be able to get by with 3-4mm of clearance on each side.

    Try it. It might rub, depending on the stiffness of your wheels. Typically you can put a little more than officially recommended
