Hi guys. Driving through the beautiful Galloway Forest Park, somewhere I’ve never been before. Really looking forward to having a bit of a camp up from Dunfrey. I turned off the A75 at Crockettford onto the A712 to New Galloway. Then on to Clattin Shores Lock. Camped up next to a beautiful lake in the uh Galloway Forest in Scotland. Platin Shores lock is a freshwater reservoir that was created by damming the Galloway River D as part of a hydroelect electric scheme. It is a great space to spot water birds, ospreys, and awesome views of the Merik, the highest peak of the Galloway Hills. Bit different today, guys. Got the mountain bike out. Not been on it for a few years. trusty red or rusty red now. So, we’re going to have a a cycle for a couple of hours around this lake here. The 14-mi route takes some beautiful forest scenery, including views of the Galloway Hills. I started off towards Craig Nell Farm and then continued along the tarmac single track road to Craig and Cali Lane. Okay, we’ve had a problem here. This is Houston. Say again, please. Continue along Sustrans’s Route 7 and turn right onto Craig Cali Lane, Southern Upland Way, 1 and a4 miles, lock D, 2 and 1/2. It’s on route 7. I had a bit of a hill climb leaving the forest, but then turned off the Route 7, headed down and across the river D onto the southern upland. Check this out. Check this out. Check this out. It was great fun making good progress along the southern upland way towards the north side of the clattering shores lock straight over the wooden bridge and turn right at the crossroads along the single trap road. I reckon we’re 2/3 of the way there. I think Pedro is just around that corner on the other side of the the lock, but I’ll get in there. I’m hoping we’ll be there in half an hour. Continue along the road until you come to a junction and turn right onto the A 712. Enjoy beautiful views of the lock on your right hand side. May the dam at last. That was hard work. Then it’s just a few hundred m back to the finish. So happy to see the van. That’s the cycle. Mountain bike adventure complete. Backside is killing me. I forgot to put some padded pants on. So I’ve I’ve not cycled for years, I suppose. But trusty Red the Trek has done the uh the business. I’m just happy to be back at the van. I have really worked up an appetite. Evening, guys. Uh just on on the edge of the lock. Just had a a shower at the back of the van. Usual using the flex tail uh 12vt power shower. Now, I’ve got my little chair set up and fire and logs ready for later. And I’m just starting to cook tea. That’s my view tonight from the van, but it’s an easy one for tea. I’m going to have a a curry tonight. Thanks compliment to Aldi in Scotland. Uh their seasonal delights, um be lash, chicken vindaloo, onion barges, vegetable samosas, selection of dips, chucknese, and some papadoms. Right, let’s see how it goes. Now for the best bit. sit down next to the campfire and relax, enjoying the peace and quiet. It’s just starting to get dark now, but look at this. Got the fire going next to the van. Got a chicken vindaloo all ready to roam. Nice. Wash it down with the Moretti overlooking a beautiful lock. Good night and thanks for watching. Don’t forget to like and subscribe. Till next time, Wilder signing off.
