Orange County authorities Tuesday identified the cyclist who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Huntington Beach.
The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 45-year-old Eric John Williams of Garden Grove.
Williams was killed when he was struck by a 2006 gold Mercedes E Class at around 7 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Newland Street.
First responders declared Williams dead at the scene.
Two other cyclists were taken to hospitals with severe injuries.
The hit-and-run driver was identified as a 43-year-old Amber Calderon of Long Beach. She was arrested about half a mile from the scene after she ultimately stopped and was arrested for felony hit and run, gross vehicular manslaughter, and possession of narcotics, police said.

In some parts of the country, riding the roads is taking your life into your own hands. At least on the trails, I don’t have to worry about getting smacked by an intoxicated soccer mom in a 2 ton SUV. I have only myself to blame if I get hurt. RIP.
This is why I gave up road cycling. Cyclists have every bit a right to the roads as anybody else .. but this shit is never going to stop and it’s just not worth the risk.
People in the US just don’t give a fuck and they never will.
