I’m totally totally new to biking and I don’t know much about anything. I have a friend that rides that normally tells me everything I need to know, but I don’t have access to him right now lol.
I found these two bikes online and am wondering if they’re good for the prices or if I should keep looking… Both are $400 and I’m thinking I might be able to negotiate down. The frames both look to be in good condition
The red bike is Cannondale CAAD8 with a Shamino Sora groupset. The other bike is a Giant LIV 3 Avail Advance with Shimano Tiagra.

Liv is Giant’s women specific brand. I can’t say much about that specific bike vs the Cannondale, but I ride all Livs, and I love them.
A quick Google search shows that the Liv Avial Advanced 3 is around 2k brand new, so 400 is a damn good deal.
The Liv is carbon and has disk brakes, so it’s a much better bike all else being equal.
I’d try to find someone (or a shop) to check it out before purchasing, any used bike can quickly exceed its value to repair if it has serious damage or wear.
Fit is also critical, and I’m worried about the steer tube extender on the Liv, they tend to make road bikes handle poorly and can damage carbon steer tubes.
