Extremely worth it if you’re in the market for a tandem. That said, you should *immediately* change out those Pedersen SE brakes. Novel design that results in them having zero braking force through the pull until they scream like a train horn and then lock up.

These were made by American for Specialized. The first American mtn tandem was hastily built in answer to two Ibis Uptube tandems entering the Chequamegon 40 for the first time around 1987, a race they were primary sponsors of at the time. One of the ibis’s was piloted by Scot Nicol himself with the legendary Sky Yeager ( who ran Suntour USA and later designed such Bianchi classics as the Volpe and the BASS / CUSS / BUSS etc singlespeeds ) stoking .
