Hey everyone,
I ride a Canyon Aeroad CF SLX 8 Di2 (2023**)** and recently discovered that a bolt in the fork area (near the steerer / crown junction) had come loose.
It seems like it might not have been properly secured from the factory, or it gradually loosened over time.
As a result, the bolt has rubbed against and damaged the carbon around it (see attached photos).
Some context:
- No crash or impact.
- The bike has always been handled carefully.
- Purchased in October 2024.
- I’ve already contacted Canyon for a warranty or crash replacement evaluation.
I’d really appreciate your thoughts on two things:
- How serious does this damage look? Could the fork still be structurally safe, or is it definitely compromised?
- Has anyone had similar experiences with loose bolts or carbon damage on a Canyon (or other carbon bikes)?
- Did Canyon treat it as a warranty issue or as rider responsibility?
- Would you recommend getting a carbon inspection done externally before sending it in?
thanks
