Got my new bike today and tried assembling it. Took out the through axle by loosening the 8mm hex screw in the third picture (which I realize now was my mistake – overenthusiastic and didn’t think). So the whole derailleur came off. Now I’m not sure of the right position of the derailleur hanger(?). I could rotate it quite a lot. I’m assuming the two little lines in the first picture need to be aligned? But how far to rotate the whole thing?

  1. Look up the sram instruction video! They explain the right way for installing the rear derailleur

The part at 8:50 should be enough. But do make sure to follow the video very closely, otherwise zhe shifting might not work.

Also, there’s technically no derailleur hanger on this bike. The derailleur is mounted directly to the frame, which is part why this is a bit more complicated.

I see! Thanks for the video and the explanation- I’d actually seen the video but didn’t realize that it was the right one, had to read your comment for it to make sense.
