I'm a 32 year-old male, and am 176 cm tall, weighing-in at about 75 kg. I'm not too athletic, and can manage a 5k run. I've cycled since I was a kid, mostly for fun and commuting. I'm looking for a bike for my everyday work commute and an occasional weekend ride, beginning with, say ~50 km trips.
These are some of the options I've found interesting so far:
- ¥65,800 Bridgestone TB1
- ¥69,300 Giant Escape R3
- ¥69,900 Trek FX1 Gen 4
- ¥79,200 Cannondale Quick 5
I understand that even these choices are quite varied, but could you help me figure how I'd go about picking one?
Also, if you folks have any other suggestions of similar bikes, within that budget (preferable closer to the lower end), I would love to hear them.

All these bikes are very similar in spec, though they are varied somewhat in geometry
My vote is for the Trek FX1 Gen 4, because it comes with the Acera rear derailleur which is higher tier than the Tourney parts on the other bikes. It allows you to use a wide range 11-40t 8 speed cassette such as the Shimano HG400-8 if you wish lower gearing for mountainous terrain or carrying gear.
