Something functional is NEVER stupid. What would be foolish would be to carry it, if it is not needed. Simple.
If it is functional for someone to wear it, the fact that it looks silly to others should be totally irrelevant. The problem is theirs…
I use mine occasionally for work and visiting friends as it’s got a sling on it. Beats lumbering with a backpack sometimes
