Hey all – I’m torn between two versions of the Endurace CF SLX 8 Di2 and could use some insight.
For context, I'm coming off a 15 year old Jamis Xenith race bike. That said, I never raced, and used more for long/fun rides in and around NYC/NJ. I'm 40+ now, and want something a bit less aggressive and more comfortable, which is why I'm looking at Endurance options. Looked at Domane, Defy, etc but really like the aesthetics/price point of Canyon.
I'm a very recreational rider, doing 20-70mi rides throughout the year with friends. Originally I was considering the Endurance CF 7 Di2 (Shimano 105) as I didn't think I really needed Ultegra.
But, then I saw this SLX 8 Di2 offered in the outlet at a nice discount ($4,850 – same price as a new SLX 7 Di2 ). While the wear level is "New Bike" condition, it appears to be an older model/colorway vs the new SLX 8 DI2s ($5,800).
I'm 5'4 so believe would be firmly in the XXS size category, though I've never sat on a Canyon before.
According to ChatGPT, the differences between the older outlet model and a new SLX 8 Di2 are as follows:
In summary:
Same CF SLX frame and LOAD storage, but slightly different spec philosophy:
– Outlet = racier gearing, lighter cockpit, cheaper but no returns.
– New = deeper wheels, modular cockpit, better climbing gears, newer fork.
Any strong opinions as to which model to go with?
- Outlet CF SLX 8 Di2 – $4850
- New CF SLX 8 Di2 – $5800
- New CF SLX 7 Di2 – $4500
Thank you!

I would not order a non-returnable Outlet bike. Did that myself and it became a significant hassle when there was an issue with the bike.
I’d get the SLX 7 if you don’t care about a power meter. Otherwise, the outlet bike is a pretty good deal as long as you like that color.
How are young going to know how hard to go up the Alpine hill to the police station without a Power meter, eh?
I also do not race, and ride same roads as you, but adding a PM has significantly improved my riding.
If can scrape enough pennies together, CF SLX 8 Di2 – $5800 The Ultergra spec is amazing and the compact gearing will suit you well. We only live once, treat yourself!
So I have the CFR Di2 all
Singing and dancing dura ace … dual sided power etc …I bought when discounted last year – new not outlet.
I am now buying the CF7 Di2 to replace my winter bike as I love the other one soooo much but defo don’t want to use it in our yakky UK weather…
I spent ages deciding between CF8 and CF7 …but decided CF7 … if you want power as well (I do like to train with power per se – teach indoor power cycling) then you could use a different approach – single side – pedals or crank – I have states power meter on my current winter bike which will now go to Mallorca to replace a rim brake trek Madone which is a 2013 model.
I decided the non DT Swiss wheels vs G 34 Newman after lots of back and forth with team at canyon & my own research.
So I say all of that to say if you don’t need power I would buy from the store not outlet. That way if any issues you have complete peace of mind. Got to say canyon service centre here in U.K. has been fab. I had a few issues and all resolved
I bought a cf7 di2 3 weeks ago (carbon wheel version) and am very pleased. I was torn on sizing and would be hesitant to purchase an outlet bike for that reason. Given the significant difficulty and cost in modifying the cockpit, you need to be fairly certain of your sizing if you are ordering a nonreturnable product. I have used power meters for 10 years and am thinking of adding one. However, they can now be added for as little as $300 (see Magene cranks). Still less than than the cf8. I really didn’t see anything that made the SLX more attractive for an additional $800. And now it’s $100 less than my purchase and a $900 difference.
Yes. Would also mention that I have had 2 bikes with di2 ultegra and it has no advantages over this version of di2 105. Ultegra has 2 hood buttons which you can use to control a Garmin but I now have one of the left shifter buttons on the 105 programmed to do that.
