Hi friends,
I have a Trek that I use for hobby biking and commuting. A couple weeks ago the seat starting twisting on me even though it was tightened all the way. Yesterday I noticed the seat was all the way to the frame after riding into the office – pulled the seat post out and saw this. How screwed am I? Is this fixable or does the bike need to be retired?

Retire that frame. Vintage lugged carbon frames are known to fail.
No.
Time to retire that bike.
Anything is fixable, the question is how much you’re willing to pay to repair it
The only way to fix it is to diy tig weld it. No pro would take responsibility for that fix.
Ugh I’m so bummed, I’ve loved this bike! Thanks for the advice guys
Depends how much you’re willing to pay. You’ll need to take the frame to a capable tig welder ideally one who has worked with frames or tubing.
I have fixed a similar issue but was for a show bike. Probably more affordable to get a new frame
If i were you, I’d get it fixed. General consensus on this subreddit is to replace frames with damage.
file down the old clamp and install a standard clamp 31.8 or 34.9
