Van Schip got kicked out of the Tour of Holland because his seatpost was apparently too creative.
Like… he didn’t dope, didn’t cut the course, he just flipped a seatpost. 😂
Meanwhile, actual safety issues in races get ignored.
Every time cycling gets a bit interesting, UCI says “nope.”
If it’s safe and approved before, why punish him now?
Maybe the U in UCI stands for “Unnecessary.”

I think the Tour de France should just allow recumbents and be done with it.
Every cyclist should have a JATO rocket they can use once per stage.
In what context exactly did the UCI say “we love innovation”?
>he just flipped a seatpost
Not exactly. He made a custom seatpost that bends forward. I think it breaks the effective seat tube angle rule, which is why he was disqualified.

Isn’t this the same organization that blanket banned recumbents a century ago and has never really revisited that?
