The president would escape through a tunnel if the White House was bombed. At over 700 ft long, this tunnel stretches all the way to the Treasury building across the street. And it zigzags underground which allows it to absorb shock waves from bombs falling above. On the other side is a luxury bunker carved out of granite and sealed like a vault. Even in times of peace, the tunnel is heavily guarded, making sure there’s always an escape route just in case.
