  1. you should probably go to your local shop and have them do frame prep like facing both headtube slots, caliper mounts and bottom bracket. If the headset area is this out of spec id bet other contact points on the frame will also need fixing

  2. some more info!! 

    I never had a press fit headset bearings so not sure what’s considered normal but the lower bearing pops in without issues and it’s loose but doesn’t fall out of the frame on its own but the top bearing is very hard to put in. needs a hammer to reach the bottom of the race. 

  3. Send pics of the inside of the headset – measure the bearings to confirm sizes. Don’t use a hammer

    If there’s no debris under the bearing and it’s seated fully, the thing that matters the most is that it is square and aligned with the bottom bearing. If it’s not, it’s wrong and will cause pre-mature wear. I would not accept it.

  5. is there some paint in there? i would take the bearing out and carefully rekove that with a cutter
