I'm looking for another bike for everyday biking. For several weeks I'm looking at second hand bikes and came across this. The owner seems to be a hobbyist building up bikes. I see in a lot of comments here people talking down old frames. This bike is from 2007, too old maybe? Don't see any damage though or rust.

Below a list on what he has done to the bike and parts discription. Would it fit 28c tires on the long run too? And are these runrace brakes any good? Never heard of the brand since most of the posts here contain all Shimano part bikes.

New components:

•All cables
•Chain and cassette
•Chainrings
•Tires
•Handlebars
•Grips
•Wheels
•Brake levers
•Shifters
•Brake pads

Component specifications:

•Shimano Tiagra rear derailleur
•Shimano Tiagra front derailleur
•Shimano Acera shifters
•Shimano Acera cassette
•Shimano chain
•Sun Race brake levers
•Schwalbe Lugano 25mm tires
•FSA Vero crankset
•Ergon grips
•Fulcrum wheels

  1. Ik 1.68m btw, haven t measured my inseem so do not know if I will fit. The dudes inviting me for a test ride tho.

  2. Frame looks v clean, as do the cables, brake blocks. An aluminium frame won’t rust, but look out for any large dents/scratches. AI tells me Sun Race are a reliable budget brand. If it’s just for city cruising, you likely won’t need more than this. Tiagra is a very reliable groupset, and it looks clean and well maintained.

There are cheaper secondhand bikes around sure, but this looks like it’s in good condition and therefore will be reliable if you keep on top of maintenance.

Check comfort and reach to the bars when you take it for a spin-you don’t want to be stretched out.
