Hello, I live in Ireland, and it’s indeed quite rainy lately. I’ve decided to invest in waterproof shoes to keep my feet dry. While researching, I got overwhelmed with choices.
A lot of people seem to say that dry feet in rainy weather is basically impossible.
I initially considered getting Gore-Tex shoes like these: [https://www.lasportiva.com/en/tx4-gtx-man-grey-27acf](https://www.lasportiva.com/en/tx4-gtx-man-grey-27acf) I thought pairing them with waterproof gaiters would be a good solution.
However, many people advise against heavy leather shoes because they don’t dry quickly when wet, which can be a problem for multi-day trips. They suggest opting for breathable shoes. Something like these: [https://www.bergfreunde.eu/salomon-cross-hike-2-gore-tex-multisport-shoes/](https://www.bergfreunde.eu/salomon-cross-hike-2-gore-tex-multisport-shoes/)
I currently own a pair of Salomons made from non-waterproof synthetic materials, which are breathable but not very comfortable. I’m not entirely convinced about breathable shoes, though.
This might also be noteworthy but I also take a pair of huarache flip flops with me in my pack, the most breathable shoe there is lol
Has anyone any words of wisdom on the matter?

I wear red back Chelsea boots in the rain and in the winter (Canadian winter 🥶) I’ve been wearing them for years and they always keep my feet dry and warm.
