London — one of the wealthiest cities on Earth — but behind the skyline, thousands of children are growing up in poverty.
In just one year, child poverty in London rose from 32% to 35%. That’s more than 700,000 children struggling to afford the basics — food, heating, a safe home.
This isn’t a distant crisis. It’s happening right here, in our capital.
And while the government fails to act, charities like The Childhood Trust, Shelter, and The Trussell Trust are fighting every day to keep families afloat.

Because no child in London — or anywhere — should go to bed hungry.

If you are from London, you should be very concerned. As you can see above, child poverty in London has rose from 32% to 35% for the first time in 3 years. That’s 700,000s of children suffering from poverty. Unfortunately, across the UK, it’s getting worse because child poverty is at an all-time high. It is estimated that 4.5 million of children are now trapped in the poverty cycle in the UK. And while families struggle, rise in rents, low wages, and cuts to benefits are pushing children deeper into poverty. In one of the richest cities in the world, I don’t think that a child should be going to bed hungry, let alone 700,000 of them. Fortunately, there are some fantastic charities that are doing great work to help our children on the ground line. Here are some links below.
