Looking to get my son (7 years old)his first Big Boy bike. Something he can grow into. Was going to go Walmart Mongoose but I like something like this Sunday. Still in training wheels. Any suggestions?

Forget everything I said before I edited this. That’s a 16″ and IS a good choice. Maybe consider the Primer model depending on his size. Get this. Not a cheapo Mongoose

Walmart Mongoose bike is better than a Sunday for two thirds the price. You can buy a full chromoly Legion L100 for 300 bucks.

He will be the coolest kid on the block and thats priceless. LoL. This would be a slammer first ride. Something like a dope tuner as your first car . Can certainly grow into , and unless he really picks it up .. won’t need an upgrade probably ever. If he did…. then that means , mission accomplished.

Mass production bikes are better and cheaper because they are mass produced. You have smart people building these Time Machine bikes with highly precise robot welders. That is more quality than a hand made Sunday.

Get the Sunday. My son absolutely fell in love with cycling whwn I got him a good bike. And he hasn’t stopped 3 bikes later.

Also, a Verde Vectra 18” is a great small BMX! An aluminum frame makes it very light, which is important especially for little riders. 👍🔥 (hard to find but well worth it)
you’ll see a Few Pounds difference b/t hi-ten steel and aluminum complete bike! That’s huge for a kid.

As someone who just went through this exact situation, I settled on my local Marketplace (and glad I did). So many crashes losing those training wheels! It was also fun to see/ research all the bike options – there were a ton of them listed consistently both new and old.
He’s rolling on a Haro Shredder which I got in like new condition for $100. If he uses the heck out of it I’d have zero issues splurging on a new bike when he’s ready for 20″.
Good luck with your boy!

Cult Juvenile 16” is aluminum framed and saves quite a bit of weight. The Haro Shredder is also aluminum framed but comes with 1 piece cranks, pedal coaster brake, and a Vbrake instead of a Ubrake.
