A lot of people think I’m from the hood. That’s not true. But I never bothered to correct anybody because I wanted the streets to embrace me. Like sometimes I’ll hang out with rappers like Nas and them and these [ย __ย ] will start talking about the projects. Yo, it was wild in the PJs, yo. And I’ll be like, “Word, [ย __ย ] Word.” But I don’t know. I have no idea. My parents did just well enough so that I could grow up poor around white people. And to be honest, when Nas and them talk about the projects, [ย __ย ] I used to get jealous because it it sounded fun. Everybody in the projects was poor. And that’s fair. But if you were poor in Silver Spring, [ย __ย ] it felt like it was only happening to you. Nas does not know the pain of that first sleepover at a white friend’s house. You come back home on Sunday and just look at your parents like, “Y’all need to step your game up.” Everything in Timmy’s house works.

  1. He not even lyin๐Ÿ˜‚ you have problems when your poor and you have problems when your poor around white folks๐Ÿ˜‚ both very real your not poor enough for the poor folks so your rich, your not rich enough for the rich so your poor ๐Ÿ˜‚ probably the worst position to be in

  2. Not personally, actually on the opposite end. Went to a black neighbor's/friend's house, across the street, and in an above-average suburban Virginia neighborhood.

I was practically only like 8 or 9, but i remember now that at least 1/3 of everything in there was broken, particularly remember we were in the basement jumping on a bed with no bed frame and felt a sharp pang in my foot and i fell off the side.

Turns out, there was fucking broken glass in the bed and i was the only poor bastard out of 5 kids to slice open the middle of my foot

  3. as i am from Poland watching USA i love to think that to be in 5% of the WORLD one need to make 60 000 USD and around half of the population of USD makes that.

  4. You use to claim to be from the hood, it wasnโ€™t assumption. ๐Ÿ˜‚. A lot of suburban black dudes have that insecurity. Especially celebrities because of hip-hop culture etc.
