He describes it as having a versitile suspension fork. He says the adjustable seat, bottle cage, and kickstand add to the practicality.

He says the original price from Trek was 499, but he is selling it cheap because it is used, rusty, and has a ripped seat.

And that's what I have to deal with where I am.

All you folks with a full selection of resonably priced, quality bikes near you… please be fully aware of the perks you have.

No lugs, not getting a damned cent over $200 outta me even with mint paint- which it appears that this Trek does not have.

You gotta say roughly where you are on the planet that you gotta deal with this delusional crap.

I love these listings because I relish in the fact it’s going to take this idiot 3 years to sell his bike.

I live in WI where Treks are so insanely common, but this would for sure go for no more than $100 on marketplace

Well it’s vintage so that’s a fucking steal. Worth at least $1200 with a few modern components on it.

  5. 500 to 290 dollar is “selling cheap”?
So otherwise it would be 400 dollar or what?
Crazy how these steel bikes hold their value. I’m sitting on a gold mine,

  6. I care so much about the value of this bike I left it in a garage for decades and never used it ever.

That shit can sit on marketplace for months, nuts.

  7. Mid 90s mtb that still has the original recalled shimano canti brakes? Not a chance at half that price.

  8. I think even $190 would had been steep.

$100-$150, it’ll sell in the right season under the right person.

$50–$100, it’ll sell within a couple months in the fall/winter. It’ll sell within a couple weeks in the spring/summer.

$0-$50, it’ll sell within 2-3 weeks. “I just want this gone” price.

  9. Got one of these for free on a curb side give away in my hood last month ha. Those cranks are a pain

This is just slightly sickening. Like, $290 for a 90s Trek with higher-end parts isn’t crazy… but, an 820 with Altus parts should be $100. In this condition, $75 would be reasonable.

Of course, as OP notes, it’s all about where you are. I’m in western WA. OP: where are you?

  11. I bought this exact same bike, colorway and everything except it’s the step through version, a few months back for 40 dollars on marketplace

This is simply a case of somebody that knows nothing about what bikes are worth. He probably thinks this bike is still relevant. He is in for a rude awakening or maybe he’ll rip-off some suck.
