Join me as I break down everything I packed for a week-long bikepacking trip from Copenhagen to Gothenburg. Discover what gear I used, what I didn’t, and my essential packing tips for bike touring.
I’m about to embark on a bike Mission from Copenhagen to gottenberg Sweden and I need to make sure that everything I pack for this onewe journey fits on this bike the plan is to pack simple and light for agility and speed and since I haven’t left yet we’ll go over what I packed and then when I get back I’ll go over what I used and what I didn’t actually need I wish I knew that now the bike is a Richie Breakaway which separ op Ates at the seat post collar and down here on the down tube there’s a coupler which means this bike actually fits in this case we’ve got apidura frame and saddle bag with Mission Workshop handlebar bag for bike maintenance we’ve got a tow Peak frame pump and another tow Peak piece for the multi-tool which is easy to access down there and it connects to a side mount bottle cage which is necessary when running a frame bag these guys got to they got to go out the sides cuz out the top well you get it this tire lever that mounts in the bar end is just so cool richy makes it it’s functional it just like fits the whole vibe right replacement tube and patch kit for TPU tubes for the frame bag we’ve got some snacks and a hacky sack this bag is mostly going to be used for accessing quick food and things I need on the Fly the other side of the frame bag has first aid Neosporin Band-Aids some antihistamines and Tylenol basic setup and tools for marking for the cockpit we’re running a chorus Dura head unit that should get me through large battery for city navigation quad loock is my preferred method mounts right on the stem elastic Google Maps makes life very easy just pops on super helpful handlebar bag this is essentially my camera kit all the cameras batteries things I need will go in here for security I’m running this tiny lock from hip lock it’s small the form factor is terrific look at the key it’s hilarious but this thing won’t do massive security but it will anchor a bike to something which is all I need on a tour rechargeable lights from Bookman these things are fantastic on the front and the back for charging of devices I try to keep this as minimal as possible the charging block this is a 3 amp all charging blocks say on their somewhere how much they output the bigger the number the faster the charge even though it’s a bigger unit that will be handy these are helpful a USB to USBC but it’s a double so you can get twice as many on there this one has four on there micro USB this I have to take to charge the Bookman lights and because I’m going to a foreign country I need this adapter and I couldn’t tell exactly which one I need so I’ll just take both I think I need this one and this one’s just small enough to gamble I think this is for Japan for on the plane USB to USBC but very long so this will be my flight charger if I need it and then it’s always nice to travel with some little gifts for people one thing I should know when I get to Copenhagen I’ll build my bike up but then I have to store the bike box at the airport which should be easy theoretically and then I’ll store my travel shoes with this box so that means when I ride I’ll be using riding shoes and a helmet of course but when I get to a destination I’m not going to want to continue wearing riding shoes which is why I decided to find the most minimal shoes I could find for my civilian activities during the bike trip and is a challenge to find lightweight minimal decent looking shoes and the best that I could find were these barefoot shoes which I’m not really into the whole Barefoot thing but the shoes fit exactly what I was looking for so I’m running them whether I like it or not the pair almost weighs as much as one single dunk the whole Barefoot shoe thing you got to like ease into it and build up your Barefoot endurance and yeah so I’m honestly a little nervous about having to walk around in these on the trip cuz as soon as I land I’m locking into riding shoes and barefoot shoes and I just hope it doesn’t burn me in the end but I’m willing to find out yeah wonder what future me is going to have to say about wearing these also too if you have any cool packing tricks tips or hacks let us know down below let us all learn from your knowledge in here is a bag that has all of my riding gear which will also store all of my civilian gear when I’m riding so this is basically the apparel this is my drawer my dresser drawer my riding outfit consists of Gore distance bib Gore spin shift long sleeve in case there’s Sun there’s no sun block needed a pair of over shorts knee warmers utilitarian Comfort one cycling cap one pair of long finger gloves or not thermal vest I love this thing double zipper back pockets slightly insulated very functional and a Gore Shake dry full zip with a hood which will protect me on the bike and in civilian life if necessary highly packable waterproof and it looks amazing and my civilian outfit I’m just running one outfit this whole trip we’ve got Marino wool underwear or not Mission pants two pairs of wool socks wool or not t-shirt which will also be my sleeping shirt All or nothing and I’m super excited about this castelli Alpha quarter zip I specifically requested this for this trip lightweight and extremely warm that with the shell is going to be like having a puffer except that much more functional wear it together wear them each as singles there’s just more versatility and packability cuz each thing can store in a different place proud of that setup and a bandan neck Gator snot rag just you pick your poison napkin whatever I love them if you’re feeling any of this feel free to subscribe I guarantee it is a fraction of the effort of packing this bike I call this my comfort bag it has one pair of clean socks and one pair of clean underwear there’s surprisingly not much else in here this is my dop kit sunblock lip balm Castile soap always useful Breathe Right Strips very basic toothbrush and toothpaste of course that’s it I’m going to bring this fanny pack is just a flexible storage space I get a little space anxiety when I travel like I just think I need more space than I do so that’s how I accommodate for airport transportation I’ve got this tiny packable backpack which will just be my carry-on thing for the plane this back is cool though watch this and that will have my little hygiene kit a notebook headphones and then my phone will be my media device so if I’m watching movies or if I’m whatever listening to music minimal and there’ll be a passport in there somewhere as well that’s what I’m packing so now I’m curious to see what do I wish I would have had more of what do I wish I had less of hopefully none of those we’re back home what did I learn only a handful of things that I didn’t need one of them surprisingly was my bonus pair of socks I just never needed them instead I just ran wolf socks the whole time but to be clear I had two pairs of wool socks one for riding one for civilian life and I’ll put links to everything I can find down below and the other piece of Kit I didn’t use which I mostly found disappointing was my hacky sack and I would do it again and again because it just feels right to have it and the lights surprisingly I didn’t really use them most of the route was on bikeways and I rode during the day but I would always take these and the barefoot shoes how do they do honestly they’re definitely weird they take some getting used to but I kind of liked how you could actually feel all the things on the ground for the trip they did everything they were supposed to do packable minimal and they look decent but I just don’t think I’ll wear these in my normal everyday life which is fine because now I just have a legit pair of travel shoes also if you’re going to do a ton of walking at one of your destinations especially on cement these are a challenge it’s not easy you’ve been mourned now to get a full understanding of how all of this stuff actually worked you’ll have to watch this video where I put it all into practice yeah foreign country one bike all my stuff on it will he make it

What’s the one piece of gear you never leave behind on a long ride?
If you really don’t like the barefoot shoes we do have shoe shops in Europe!
FYI Japan uses the same size plug as the US, but they only do 100 volts, instead of 110.
You were in Gothenburg. !!
I would definitely leave the huge frame pump and got with something packable. The way the frame bag and bottles fits with it on the bike would bother me too much.
the small adapter is for Italy
I just use gravel SPD shoes 6 of 10 stiffness. Good enough walking. I was born to ride anyway, not walk!
Great video. We've a lot of similar items in our set up. I too like Google maps on my phone for city navigation though I use the mous interlock in the Garmin mount. My travel bike uses S & S couplers so the case is smaller than the Ritchey breakaway. I use a frame pump but didn't realise I could still mount it with a frame bag. How was the stability of it? Much sway from the looser straps? I've used the old school Eagle Creek vacuum bags to compress the packing cube more in the saddle bag and it makes a big difference.
Water shoes. They almost don’t exist. Might be a bit too much like walking around in slippers for some folks, but they’re super packable, and really comfy.
Merrill mock shoes that zip together are small to pack and comfortable
There are things that would might not use on 6 trips. But if you leave it out for the 7th …
Aside from the long battery life, how is the Dura as a bike computer?
45:20 now this is just some BS lol
Hi great video! Quick question, what brand are those charging splitters? Looking for sominthing like that on short length. Thank you!!
Are you sure those aren't BareFoot skiis?
What do you wear when you wash your clothes, or don't you wash?
I freaking love biking and camping! Which makes me love your channel.
If you reach the point where you could've just bought a car, why not just buy a car?
A tent that uses the bike as a pole🎉🎉🎉🎉
It's a bit hard to find, but there are 2 bolt shoes that look like street attire. A bit less stiff than average riding shoes. Probably a better compromise IMHO.
I've done barefoot, with a lot of Vivos for about 10 years now.
Haven't cycled so much.
I'm researching bikepacking now, but I've got survival training, navigation training and arctic experience. So that aspect I'm good. I just need to train my butt to a saddle for extended periods.
I've got some interesting thoughts on cold weather stuff. I've done improvised shelters at -56C more than once.
On barefoot shoes. You got it, you need to work up to them.
But if you end up liking them, the Ra's are much more Oxford looking. Full leather, so warmer, but I love em. I'm on my second pair, the first having lasted over 9 years, and ended up wandering off in luggage that got stolen. So never actually died.
Vivo's great to deal with.
I had fully transitioned to barefoot shoes. So when I started mountain biking again, I ended up breaking both my feet…fractured metatarsals. So I got flat pedal mtb shoes, which solved that. But just don't ride with them.
And I"ve got a hacky sack in my bag too. For decades. Good job.
Okay…your body fat percentage is approaching zero….😊
Gain space by using a compression sack for your extra clothes.
I love your content. I use barefoot shoes all the time and they're sooooo comfortable. Maybe if I was walking miles and miles they would get old. I'm not sure, but I love them.
i had the exact same breakaway, same color too. i swapped it for the cross version though, only slightly regret not having both.
Great video! Who makes that fanny pack?
LOL I roll with a hackie sack that I never use as well! I am always whipped at the end of the day, and don't end up doing my PT hackie. Thanks for the vid, well done.
The materials used are top notch. The leather feels soft and luxurious, exactly like the real thing. The stitching is impeccable, with no loose or uneven lines. The hardware (including the iconic CC twist lock clasp) is durable, well made, and adds to the overall elegance of the bag kisluxs . I thought everyone who owned an LV monogram bag knew that it was obviously coated canvas? When people spend a fortune on an expensive bag, they might as well buy a replica
I allways go with the barefoot shoes, even som even morre minimal sandals for running. For pedal i use the same shoes on the good platform, where i can feel the studs so i now my foot placement is consistent.
Really like your content and minimalist travel style 😉
You should get a support vehicle for all that stuff.
love this! So cool all the places you can put various bags on the bike.
Two types of shores. That is unnecessary. You need to find one shoes that are very good for cycling and tolerable for walking.
Good clothes choice. Too much fuss about shoes. Just ride with flat pedals and some lightweight (black, since you're worried about style) hiking shoes. Flip flops or shower sandals. Job done. It's not a race. Smell the roses. Your route is approx 300km. You have a week. Why the need for "speed"?
i actually ride in vivo barefoot shoes. feels good man.
mnml
ngl in the shots where you're showing off your kit I can't help but think you're a good looking dude
Once you start wearing barefoot shoes properly you will NEVER go back to foot coffins. Our feet are supposed to be able to feel the ground, you've been wearing bike shoes for too long!
Nail clippers? They seem like a luxury until you NEED them. Good light kit! I agree on the shoes too, too minimal but perfect too.
HAHA Your Howard Trucking hat is from my hometown!!! Newport, AR!
Funny man
What Lights did you use? (Didn’t use) couldn’t finde them my self 🙈
Great super helpful video. I used barefoot shoes on a minimalist bike trip to Sicily. They were great for packing but bad for cobblestone walking, not good at all if plantar fasciitis is in your life
Where did you get those reusable bags?
A very useful video and channel which is coming in handy for my upcoming Bikepacking trip to Sardinia next month. This will be the first trip where I've involved camping and not the credit card, so this is just what I needed.
Subscribed!
Beautiful collection likes your channel kisluxs
I was going to say this but then I changed my mind not wanting to clog up the chat with nonsense, but you specifically mentioned it again, so now I want a hacky sack in my frame bag.
I ❤ those brand pins you have for "little gifts for people"!
Hi! Watch my latest video about cycling in Siberia and tell me if I should make another one like this. Thanks🤝🤗
Big fish bait never gonna watch another video of yours
