I’m about 500 miles through a tour of the northeastern USA. I’ve been zigzagging to all the tourist stops: Portland, the White Mountains, Salem, Wells/Oqunquit, Mount Monadnock for a birthday climb, the Green Mountains, and Saratoga Springs. My last 300 miles will be on the Erie Canal Trail to Niagara Falls. It’s gorgeous out here, and I’ve been riding the snowmobile trails as much as possible to fully experience the foliage.
Bike: Jamis Portal C4
Front pannier setup just because this bike isn’t built for rear bags.
Taking my sweet time and averaging 50 miles per day.

Great picks Heather!
Was Monadnock crowded the day you went up? This time of year it can get a bit overrun on nice weekends.
Enjoy the rest of the trip!
800 miles on a 130mm trail bike with enduro tires. You’re crazy!
How are the panniers attached to the fork?
Sounds like you’re enjoying yourself! Stay safe out there.
Awesome tour! Would love to see your route when you finish up!
That’s a lot of weight on the front of the bike.
Moving some of it to the back (or distributing it more evenly) might improve your ride experience the next time. You can get some rear racks that will fit on the back of that frame style (Google the Topeak M2 rear rack for an example).
Nice job though, you have done more distance than I ever have.
That’s the most front loaded bike Ive ever seen. How is it?
