I’m hoping to get some advice. I bought a bike that was originally set up tubeless. A while back, I removed the sealant and put in an inner tube because I didn’t want to deal with tubeless maintenance. After a few months, I decided to switch back to tubeless after getting a puncture.

When I went to reinstall the tires tubeless, I had a really hard time getting them on and off the rims (they’re hookless). I ended up having to use a tire lever to get them back on. I used a bit of soapy water to help seat the beads, and once they were on, I pulled the valve core, added sealant, and pumped them up.

The tires seated fine and hold air, but when I spin the wheel, I notice a small wobble. The sidewalls look even all the way around, so it doesn’t look like the tire is seated unevenly, but the wobble has me worried.

Could I have damaged the bead by using tire levers to get them on? Should I take it to a shop to get checked out, or is a little wobble normal?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

How much tyre wiggle is acceptable?

    That doesn’t look too outrageous.

Is the wheel trued? Is the wobble entirely due to how the tyre is seated?

  2. You may have stretched the bead. Either that or you need to overly inflate to make absolutely sure it’s seated.
