I’ve been lurking for some time. Is this a steal or no?
1. I’m 5’9.” This should fit, right?
2. This looks older. Can I still update shifters, etc?
3. Would you regret wheel size? I’ve had 16” wheels on a e bike Friday and I thought maybe I’d want a bigger tire: 20” or something. Since this is acoustic, thinking it’ll be fine?
4. Any specific things to check for it to be mechanically sound?

1) yes it will fit you
2) yes it looks like it’s between 2012 and 2018, based on the newer crank but older shifter and bars. All can be updated.
3) these unfold longer than most folding bikes since they fold I’m 3, so even though the wheels are small it’s a reasonably long wheelbase. A bit darty and you’ll need to pay attention to avoid potholes but they ride well.
4) check for stiff hinges or play in hinges. Check the hub and external gears work fine. Make sure the seatpost tube hasn’t been overtightened and cracked at the base of the U. Most other parts are just the same as any other steel bike, and be wary of rust.
at that price- I assume stolen, unless others know of older bikes going that low without any sketchiness.
On older bikes, there’s a massive element of *it depends*.
What condition are the brakes? Does it have a hub gear at the back, what condition is that in? Is there any corrosion?
If it’s in good shape, then it’s probably a decent purchase. And one of the nice things about getting a second hand bike, particularly if you haggle, is that your downside is relatively limited: don’t like it? Well, you can probably sell it for roughly what you paid.
But if there’s corrosion or the gears don’t work or the brakes need replacing, then that $450 is not going to look like a bargain.
