Having finally found a reasonably decent Caad4 Saeco frame in my size and not too far away, it wasn't until I got it home that I noticed a screw in the chainstay. See pic 2. I've not loosened it yet but assume someone bodged a fix to get the cable bracket on.
A shame! It was a cheap ebay auction and I don't think the seller noticed it either (house clearance – this was saved from the tip!)
What's everyone's thoughts? I'm inclined to say it's safe to ride. But i'll have to remain on the look out for another, which could be a while.

That screw is supposed to be there. It’s on many CAAD frames from this era.
