Hello everyone,
I bought a Trek Madone Sl5 Gen 8 last month and today while adjusting the saddle height, I heard a cracking noise from the seatpost or frame area while tightening.
After removing the saddle and checking, I noticed that a small part of the carbon around the seatpost area, is peeling or delaminating.
Has anyone else run into this issue?
Should I stop riding and get it checked immideatly?
Any advise or experience would be really appreciated!

bring it to your local trek dealer for a warranty. This should be covered if that is actual damage. You probably overnighted it, if they ask, you used torque wrench. Also, a normal Allen wrench socket is thick and rubs the inside of the gap when inserted, so trek sends a skinny 4mm bit specifically to avoid that. Did you use a torque wrench and a skinny bit? If not it is possible that the damage is user error. However, even if it is user error a savvy tech can still get it covered under warranty.
It is possible that the creaking was just the seat post wedge settling in to place. It is possible that the flaking you are seeing is non structural. I can’t tell from a photo.
No idea, but it’s not uncommon for seatpost wedges to make truly horrible noises when they’re being torqued up to spec. The one in my SuperSix certainly sometimes does.
