Not sure why I hadn’t thought of this before but you can rinse your bike at gas stations. Often for free or for like 1 Euro. It’s low pressure. Combined with a toothbrush and a microfiber towel you can freshen up the drivetrain during the trip.

In Poland many if not most Circle K stations have hose with water next to the bike stand available for free for bikers, sometimes even there are stands with common tools. Guess they realized that it’s a cheap way to boost coffee / hotdog sales.
