    Bend it, but not significantly. Get it past the hub, then follow where it needs to go under the other spoke at the last cross. It’ll be okay. Reduce tension all over, then retension once the new spoke is installed, keeping it true.

  2. you will need to remove the brake rotor on the other side. and the spoke will need to be bent somewhat.
    ensure you copy the original spoke pattern, reference the one next to it to be sure.

    do not detension the whole wheel for a single spoke replacement. just tighten it to true, squeeze it to destress, and retighten to true.

    I managed to get it through! Thank you for your replies. I did have to put a subtle bend in it to get it started. I had to use vice grips to nudge it little by little. But then I got it straightened out and threaded into the nipple. It looks like it might’ve gotten even straighter under tension after tightening, too.
