Unless you're an elite competitor, where shaving off 30 seconds is the difference between 1st and 5th place, a 20-40 yearold bike is perfectly fine. I have a 35yo aluminum Trek 1000. As light as my buddy's Titanium bike. You seem to be a pretty serious athlete. Good luck!
