The Source to Sea Trail connects the network of old tracks in the folds of the hills and on the moors where 10 of Yorkshires finest rivers rise.
It is a circular route 730kms long with 9,000 metres of climbing.
The 3rd Source to Sea Trail event will be held on 23rd – 28th May 2026 with the start line once again at Mytholmroyd Community Centre in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire and a group start at 8am.
This is the only bikepacking route in the world to trace the watershed – the high ground – of a single large scale river basin (Humber) where rivers such as the Aire, Calder, Derwent, Esk, Nidd, Swale, Wharf, Ure and Don have their source and follows their flow to the sea.

The trail is 70% ‘off-road’ with farmers double track across millstone grit, singletrack across limestone and greenways on canal towpaths and reclaimed railway lines.
GPX of the route is on the website for a DIY adventure or join us at the start line in the Calder Valley
Tickets for the event are £65 for riders 25 years old and under or £75 for riders over 25 years old.

The story of Yorkshire is written in the old tracks which cross the moss and valleys where our rivers rise. These old tracks that drove us lanes, saltways, and coffin roads are the product of a 100 generations of labor. On the source to sea trail, we connect these old tracks and lanes that run along the high ground, valley slopes, and across the broad flood plane where 10 of Yorkshire’s finest rivers rise and flow to meet the body of the North Sea. [Music] Yeah, I’ve done I’ve done Badlands. Did it in 2023 and I would definitely say this is so much harder. This was so so tough. Yeah. Beautiful though. Lovely weather, lovely scenery. What a route. Yeah, I loved it. The trail is a long-d distanceance circular route that in broad terms is a trail of two halves. To the west we travel along high mand tracks separated by narrow valleys. So there’s a lot of climbing and descending. The east we cross the wide open flatlands with fields stretching to the horizon. On the Solst Sea Trail, we experience six places, each with their own unique character, and when connected together, make a whole whose diverse scenery is unrivaled for its natural beauty and variety of off-road tracks that can be enjoyed by gravel bike or mountain Like [Music] hey, [Music] hey, [Music] [Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Often out of sight, but never far away, are the swift flowing rivers. In their upland stages, the waters are crystal clear, and the river banks are lined by sturdy trees with waterfalls, rapids, and fords. [Music]
