I've been browsing marketplace for a cheap brompton for a while now.
I found one with a listed price I may be comfortable paying. Are there any obvious things I should be looking for when buying a used Brampton and ensure it's not a fake.

Looks real to me, pre 2013, you can also ask for the serial number if they have the sticker on there still. That will be located on the frame tube the seat post sits in.
it is original, and the equipments and accessories are too. but some of the colours of the accessories are exclusive to Brompton BikeHire only. coincidentally, the paintjob is pretty terrible, started peeling off and looked like it was done with a rattle can? messy cabling could give an indication that this could be a stolen BikeHire that was repainted cheaply and quickly. model is pretty old, before 2013 I believe as it sports the old one-piece crankset.
additionally, pentaclip saddle clamp is seen fitted with theft-proof torx bolt, which isn’t standard on any normal Brompton thus supporting my assumption above. OP, pls report this listing to Brompton and police.
What’s the asking price? It looks a little beat up. Check for cracks and other structural issues when you see it in person.
