The L adjust screw even without the cable attached can not create a gap with the chain on the small chain ring and largest cassette cog.

I don't have this problem with any other bikes with this type of derailleur, so I'm wondering if it could be a frame issue, or maybe a bottom bracket issue, as this isn't a shimano bottom bracket, although it came with the bike, so I would expect it to be compatible.

  1. Just a guess but the derailleur is supposed to have a mild angle to it with the rear end pointing slightly inward. Can you pitch the rear end of the derailleur inward slightly to get that gap?

The l and the h screw both interact with each other in these toggle FDs. Carefully so you don’t back it all the way out, fiddle with the h limit and see if that helps. Also are you following the shimano setup guide for this fd as it’s different than previous designs. Not saying you aren’t but I fix alot of front derailleurs that have come from different shops whose mechanic doesn’t know how to set this up

I do know this problem, too. Helped myself by adjusting the position of the (right) crankarm.
