    I always gauge by the top bolt of the stem. As long as it’s below the top of the steerer you should be fine.
    As wise mentioned…you should sink that star but down some.

    If it’s steel, the top of the steerer should be above or at the very least in line with the centerline of the top bolt. Aluminum and especially carbon you want it above the top bolt, ideally sticking out a little above the stem so you can add a spacer on top.

  3. Looks pretty standard to me

    Slap some thinner spacers in with one on top if you’re worried.

    Can’t really tell from the pictures but the steerer needs to come up above the stems top bolt but be low enough so the preload bolt can take out any play from the headset.
