  1. I put a razor blade in the gap and give it a gentle tappy tap. Then move around the steerer and repeat until it’s moved enough to get something bigger in there. Then just a little wiggle and it usually comes off

    There may be a small indent for a small flat screwdriver head to begin the removal process. Plus, the screwdriver can be used as a lever to pry the race free (carefully!)

    The safest thing is to go to the store which will use a fork cone extractor. And if you don’t have a cone fork handle, go with your new cone so they can fit it for you 👍

    A knife you can spare, thats the best tool. Just hammer the blade in between there, both sides.

    With screwdrivers you usually end up leaving marks, with a knife its clean.

    Razor blades and some patience…

    Or just buy extra… that’s what I do. They’re cheap and if you like to swap forks it’s makes it all that much easier.
