This 196.5km stage between Pergine Valsugana and Caorle offers a a day of respite ahead of three brutal days in the mountains. With just 604m of elevation gain and no categorised climbs, this is the penultimate opportunity for the fast men to make their mark on the 2023 Giro d’Italia.

When the final sprint started, I already expected Milan to be out of contention, because he was too far back. But this guy is ridiculously fast! He reminds me of the young Marcel Kittel.

Just when you thought this, er, "race" couldn't get more boring, we had this dull and tedious event. Worse, we had to endure the brit presenters bummin' Cavendish much of the time. Although the lead commentator, in his usual fallacious breathless-excitement mode, is always bummin' one or the riders….
