If it just fell off as you were riding it wasn’t installed correctly which may have been causing damage to one or both sides of the cranks
It’s an easy fix but if they have been damaged you’re going to need to buy new drive/non-drive side crank arms

I’ve had the same issue on a bike packing trip and managed to fix it on the side of the road. I did have the TL-FC16 with me though… If you have a 6mm allen key with you you can try to push it with your hand as far as possible and then tighten the bolts, that should take you home.
The more important thing is to understand why it happened in the first place…
