Day 13 of my budget cycle across Italy 🚲🇮🇹. After 5 hours on the bike, I hit the laundrette to finally wash everything. But when I saw it cost €9 just to dry, I had to get creative — living on €20 a day doesn’t leave much room for extras. Solution? A shopping cart, some sunshine, and a little improvisation. 🧺🌞
This journey is teaching me that bikepacking and solo travel aren’t about perfection — it’s about making do, finding hacks, and laughing at the tough bits. Every challenge becomes a story, and every day feels like a new budget challenge I never expected.

Sometimes my genius knows no bounds. Italy on a budget. Today was day 13 of my 20-year-old adventure cycling Italy top to bottom. It absolutely pissed last night. Also, I’m going to need to go to a laundry mat. So, the mission for the day was set. Find a laundry mat and get my clothes washed. All within my daily budget. I’ve arrived at the laundry mat. Time to give absolutely everything a wash. When you’re on a long-term adventure, it’s very important to keep up with your daily chores. Washing clothes, having a shower, organizing your gear. This machine was €6, which I thought was very fair. To dry the clothes was going to be €9. So, I’ve decided, why not take use of the sun and dry them myself? Please drop me a follow so you don’t miss out on the rest of the adventure. Let’s go.
