It’s been a superb week of World Championship bike racing in Rwanda, Africa. The final race was the men’s elite road race. A big one and of course an opportunity for everybody to try and take it to Bogacha. They come from all around the world to take on possibly the world’s hardest course. 5 a half thousand meters of climbing even Bogachar and the rest was the pre-race Billy. So in the heart of Africa in Kegali, a few laps to start off, nine around the first circuit and then a longer local lap circuit, a big climb, Mount Kgali, straight steep, followed by the very famous Nordali we see each and every year in the tour of Rwanda. 267 1/2 km, six finishing laps and that cobble climb called the Kimhura, the big one on each of those laps. [Music] The race began early in the morning. Flag was waved and instead of having the usual television style attacks that you get in the worlds, this was very different. Right from the off, there were big name riders trying to join Red Walters up there who was the representative of Grenada. He was soon caught and passed. As for other attempts who tried to get up there, Portugal were going to be represented in the move. France as well and the Netherlands. But the seven who ended up in the break, they’d soon start to break up themselves. Just over 100 kilometers remain when Julian Bernard, the Frenchman, was the only remaining rider. And it was on the Mont Kegali that things really started to heat up. Domin Novak was there, this time riding for Slovenia. And the crowds were like nothing we’d ever seen in professional cycling before. Bugattacha then made his move. 104 kilometers to go. Neapool initially with him. Aayusu as well at the Brooks trying to follow but all of a sudden even was going backwards. Bugacha continued to advance and he had del Toro alongside Richard Karapaz trying to close the gap. This was a long long way for the finish even further than when he attacked in Switzerland last year. The scenes were spectacular. The moment unique yet again was leading it. Auss by the top the only man who was there but there’s a suggestion that he was maybe getting a little too close to the sun. Neapol continued to have problems. This time it seemed with his saddle. Auss Pogacha went on the descent. Del Toro both their trade teammate was coming across Slovenia, Spain, Mexico represented with 101 kilometers to go and heading on to the very short but extremely steep Norduki galley. And it was there as Del Toro accelerated that Ausso began to have an issue. Double digit gradient cobbles underneath and Ausso was gone. But with 99ks to go, surely it was too far for just two to go. Plenty of firepower behind for Eve Neapool, Belgium, and other nations as well. Quickly, the gap was up to 40 seconds. However, [Applause] six laps to go on to the finishing circuits. Tacha looking to win for the second time after he won the tour to France and the Worlds last year. if he was to pull this off too be the first man to do that backto back for tour and worlds in the same season. Even Paul was unhappy so much so he even stopped off the spare bike looking for another and it was a long wait to the team car too. Was it the end of his race? Certainly seemed like it could be. Bacharan Del Toro was still out there with 72 km to go. The gap was at 40 seconds. The chasers included Healey, Sivakov, and Honore. Del Toro though had had issues. The 21-year-old from Mexico was soon dropped by Pugachar who was alone with 66 1/2 km to go. The chase continued behind, but it wasn’t in its final form yet. Ian Neapal was back and absolutely rejuvenated. He was leading a chase that brought Pigcock with him. But with a gap at 57 seconds, they needed to get organized and form a new group. Skin Mort got involved too. And completing the lineup was Jai Hindley, a five-star chase group. Objective chase, the greatest we’ve seen. But Bugattacha continued. Pitcock couldn’t. And then in the chase there were three. The gap still at a minute though with 41ks to go. It was difficult to see where that chase was coming from. With 20 to go, even Paul went off to try and secure silver as Bulgata’s gap was well over a minute by this point. Into the last lap and ready to soak up the agilation of the crowd. Bulga was almost home. He had one and a half minutes with 8ks to go as I had put enough time into the chasers. And then of the remaining chasing two, Ben Healey proved the strongest. Ireland had a medal since 1989. At the finish at the end of Africa’s first worlds, it was Tade Poga, the world’s greatest. two world championships in a row. The first man to win tour and worlds in successive seasons. [Music] Slovenia were ready to celebrate. Belgium not so much. Even Nepal not happy with the final result. A roller coaster race for him. But delight for Ireland back on a world’s road race podium for the first time since 1989. Fourth place went to a brilliant ski moa and there were huge differences in the top 10. This was a world’s race to remember. Tom Pitcock finishing in the top 10. Aus for his efforts in the end in eighth. Del Toro finishing seventh. Anie Corner just missing out the top five that was rounded out by Squan again. Uh, but you wanted to do it even better than last year in Zurich, taking off with 105 km to go. Spectacular. I think the per course was designed for this, but I was Yeah. Um, yeah. Hoping that the small group would form like uh like we did with Juan and Del Toro. Perfect combo. I was like, okay, this is like dreams, no to to write together to as far as possible as a trio. But uh yeah um Juan had a problem quite soon on the more of on the cobbles and del Toro had some stomach problems I think after the race I mean in the race so I was left alone quite early and was so lower like uh like last year just uh fighting with myself but uh I’m so happy I made it. Were there moments where you doubted? Oh for sure. Yeah. Uh because the the climbs were getting harder and harder every lap. Uh yeah, and also on the on the downhills was not so so fast. You still had to like pedal quite uh quite a lot. So yeah, the the energy resources was going uh towards the end and uh yeah, it was so hard the few few final laps and of course you doubt a bit but uh you have to push through um and uh hope for the best to do it here in Africa to do it on this course under 30 riders finished makes it even more special. Yeah. I know uh it was incredible experience alto together and um yeah u let’s say it was a successful week. Enjoy the podium. A successful week is an understatement. Slovenia had never had a world champion at this particular level in the elites until last year. Now they’ve won two back to back and they’ve both been won by Tugacha who was on the top of the podium. What a week in Africa. What a worlds in Rwanda. Cycling season continues though on TNT Sports on Discovery Plus. [Music]

Pogicar is on another level in road racing , evanopoel in time trialing ….. just hope for the neutral pogicars dominance is not as great un 2026 because frankly it’s boring to watch
Del toro could be a great threat next year 👀
Hilarious. When is this joker going to get found out?
Evenepoel 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 KOE – King Of Excuses
Pogi superb, again. But the number of DNF's…..
How is pogi so much better than everyone else…. I hate to question him, but HOW!¡?
Lorenzo, pologaci are amazing lovely the president of Rwanda is an other level is a lion ❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so happy for Healey, to be 3d behind Pogi and Remco with so many strong riders is something to be really proud of.
The young guns wants to challenge their master 🤣
💉💉💉💉all of u need to wake up
I can't help but feel the course designers lacked a little imagination, what with having that many laps.
GOAT
this course is insanely brutal. kudos to all finishers.
It's nothing personal with Pogacar – he seems a nice enough chap – but the fact is he's a ruthless tension-killer. Other than in very niche circumstances (against MvdP in Paris-Roubaix, for example), there's no real race when he turns up wanting to win, because he then does so, with such dominance, it's not even like he has to stretch himself 🥱
1:46 what does he mean by that? surely the amount of people is not extraordinary. so does he refer to the "color"?
Afonso no Top 10 caralhooooo
Imagine if TNT SPORT OR DISCOVERY PLUS were not involved, charging an extortionate price on this the audience live will be massive instead I watched it on a pirate channel like millions others
What an atmosphere, holy moly. They really took their opportunity
Boy o boy!!!Again what a performance from our national hero Pogi at the Worlds! All the boys did what they were brought for!!!!Pogačar left me speechless one more time.Congratz to Remco for never give up and also to Ben Healy for toughness he has showed.
104 km to go, DJ Pog: EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!!😂😂 LEZZGOOOO!
#1 in a class of his own
Too bad Remco loose almost 1 minute in changing the bike.
Even though I wanted Pogacar to win, it probably would've been more historical for Remco to have won both events.
But all the same, Remco should be very proud of what he's achieved at this championship: 1st at the ITT, 2nd at the road race. I don't know if this (i.e. 1st and 2nd) has been done before.
Perfectly normal performance. Nothing suspicious to see here…
Better roads than in the UK!!!! Incredible crowds too. Fantastic. It's been a total success and Rwanda must be very proud of putting on such a great Championships.
Triple crown:
Tour de France
Kriterij Komende
World Championship
Bravo!!!
When Pogi is at the start line it's always an exciting race for the 2nd place…
Sick, one of top 10 sportsman in the world now
