Can this DMR Bikes tensioner device be used to tension a Gates Carbon Belt on a vertical drop out frame? wanna get a machine shop to cut my Fuji aluminum bike frame to create a split and install a single speed Gates Carbon Belt for daily commuting in rain

I do have another idea of converting this 9 speed Sora gravel bike to single and using a chain instead of the belt, however I really hate maintaining chain in this rainy wet season tropical climate.
I see KMC has a K1 heavy duty BMX bike chain

I am wondering how does this chain hold up with NO maintenance beyond just dumping wet chain lube every month on it? no degrease no nothing just dump heavy wet lube and ride, such is the type of heavy duty chain I prefer, if this is NOT feasible then I would like to cut the frame to create a split to use a gates carbon belt in a single speed configuration.
Probably not the answer you’re looking for, but they make belts that split, instead of your frame now.
Gates belts are 12mm or 14mm wide and single speed chains are 9mm wide, so the belt won’t slot in there right.
Does the frame have a split in it, or a raised chainstay? You’re going to need a way to get a belt through the rear triangle. If not, Veer makes a split belt.
Not sure I would trust that. I had a similar tensioner on my first singlespeed, and it constantly slipped, causing my chain to throw at the worst possible moments. Then again, a belt weighs a lot less than a chain, so maybe it would work.
IIRC, Belts need to be pretty freaking tight. I’m not sure it would stay put under that much tension.
If you just wipe your chain dry with a rag on a single speed as soon as you arrive home, problem solved. Add a few drops of lube, wipe again, go have dinner.
Even better if you use a chain like the KMC rust buster or go wax chains.
Trying to turn a regular frame into a belt drive frame, you’ll spend more money than just buying a new frame.
I mean I’d personally never even consider cutting a chainstay just to install a belt… get a purpose built frame or carry on with a chain.
Also, as a machinist… I’m unsure how a machine shop would go about doing this reliably.
Just buy a newer frame instead of hacking yours up
I think cutting the frame would be a bigger hazard than it’s worth.
