Is the beginning of the end?
I really hope not!

Plans for Universal’s UK theme park might be about to get cancelled. No. This comes as water shortages pose a major challenge. In an article that has just been posted by the Times, the theme park projected to open in 2031 will increase Bedford’s daily water demand by up to 50%. Anglian Water, the local provider, warns that meeting this demand may require a substantial upgrade, including potentially doubling the capacity of Bedford sewage treatment facilities. The company, however, mentions that this is due to the UK’s outdated regulatory framework, which also limits funding and infrastructure expansion because when one thing goes wrong, it’s usually a snowball effect. It’s also now being highlighted that potential traffic issues will be a problem in the future. Traffic issues have already been fought about and upgrades are already being made, but it looks like our crusty old UK water system might not be able to cope with this theme park. Despite these challenges, Universal Studios and local authorities are still remaining optimistic about the project. The project is expected to boost the economy and create thousands of jobs. So, it looks like we might be okay, guys. But this is very scary news. We have all been extremely excited, so I’m really hoping this isn’t the end. Do you think this is the end of Universal Bedford, or merely just a bump in the road? Let me know in the comments.

  1. It’s a news article, they tend to be overdramatised
I recall a good example of the story of the child on a monorail rail being clickbaited by implying a kid was on a rollercoaster track instead
