Hi all – I am in the market for a new bike and have been chatting with a lot of local bike shops to figure out the best option for me. I decided to narrow the search down to a gravel bike and have been narrowing in on Salsas. I’m between the Cues and the Claris – obviously there’s a big price difference between the two but from talking with bike shops, seems like the price jump might be worth it for the upgrade in brakes and other features? I love biking as a hobby and am hoping to get into it more, though don’t plan to do anything crazy besides some long travel rides for fun. Which bike would you choose between the two?

  1. In this case they are putting the extra cost of the Cues model to good use. If it is in your budget then it is worth it for sure. The build on the Claris is very reliable they have not skimped on quality so if that is what you budget realistically fits it is good value. But they have added a lot of performance and quality of life improvements in the Cues model. That is not always true, at a certain price point the more expensive a bike gets the less worthwhile the improvements become. I think hydraulic brakes, thru axles, clutched derailleur and carbon fork all add tangible improvements.

i would pay more to get a steel frame instead, cues lasts longer i know but imo not worth it to pay that much price more
