Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get my first nice road bike and cant take my eyes off this beautiful C40. As far as I can tell it's a great deal for the frame + wheelset combo. That being said I'm not familiar with the used market for rim-brake ENVE wheels, and they push the bike over my anticipated budget. The seller thinks I could easily sell the wheels myself for $1000 if I want to downgrade, but the idea of being stuck trying to sell top of the line old tech to recoup that amount of $ is pretty freaky. Its been listed since late August, which is throwing me off too – does this seem solid to you all or a bit too good to be true?

Colnago C40 B-Stay

– All carbon: frame, wheels, seat post, crank arms, front and rear derailleurs, handlebars, brake levers, “Star carbon” fork and carbon Time pedals.
– Titanium skewers.

– Campagnolo Record 10 drivetrain and levers
– New tubular Veloflex tires
– New tubular Enve carbon wheels
– DT Swiss 240 hubs with straight pull spokes
– updated cables
– updated brakes – more powerful and lighter than Campy Record (Mavic)
– Poggio seat

  1. It was also cross-listed on Craigslist (now expired) with some close-ups of the rims that seemed to show some slight wear/clear coat delamination (?) around some of the points where the spokes meet the rim.

  2. I’d be passing on that at any price. I wouldnt ride the wheels in the state that you mentioned and it only fits a 25mm tire.

Modern tech has outpaced the difference between entry and high end bikes by quite a margin in recent time.

I would literally take an aluminum emonda with 105 over this as it’ll be more comfortable, faster, and have better shifting.

Way overpriced. For $1650 you can get used Carbon frame with hydraulic disc brakes 11spd bike.

  4. Seller is out of touch with reality. Tubular wheels sell for pennies these days.
I’d pay about 1k for this, but that’s only because I’m a campy fan boy.
