[Music] Then we could then we could we could we could be all tight. Yeah, make it like a [Music] lean there. I was going to say if you want if you want to weigh yourself for the plus 82 kg column the skills are there some stuff. [Applause] [Music] There we go. There we go. Good morning. Something a little bit different today. It’s Protex annual hill climb competition which takes place on a climb called Paradise Bank in between Lworth and Shadiff few miles outside of Durham City Center itself. Weather’s been kind. Nice blue skies although it is a bit chilly, slight headwind. The hill itself only averages about 4 and a half% but there’s some uh sharp inclines in there. It kind of goes up three times. The first ramp off the start ramps about 15%. Then you’ve got a 10% pitch in the middle and a nice drag up to the finish line. Don’t think I said how long it was. It’s only about a mile. So you’re only looking at about 3 or 4 minutes of uh effort there. This error [Music] Johnny there warming up. I’ve been fed and watered from the northern bistro there down at the community center and an unbelievable pistachio and white chocolate on the cup. Chef’s kiss. [Music] Don’t know if you make it out, but you can just about see Dao there in the distance. [Music] Set up. Oh, yeah. Some great shots here. Looks like Looks like you got a drone up, but you haven’t sort of thing. All right. We’ve got a big prize on for a course record of £200. The men’s was set by ex British national champion Tom Bell in 2022. 2 minutes 41. I don’t think I’ll be baiting the day. Got a bit of a headwind. Although it’s a nice day. You need a tailwind to be fast setting past times. All right. Tom. Yeah. Not riding. No, I’ve pulled my groin. Oh. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] So this in brand new spanking. Good morning. Protect VO. I know. Fancy kit, isn’t it? Looking good, man. First time out. So the arrow gains. Yeah, I think it fits perfectly. [Music] 5 4 3 2 1 [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] [Music] Come on. Come on. Yeah. Have we seen the winner yet, Pete? Have we seen the winner? Have we seen a winner? Possibly. Which one? Who’s your money on? Brian was doing well. He hasn’t been yet. Was Johnny. Johnny. [Music] How was it? Easy. You look like you were going fast. I said said to Peter, “Who’s your winner so far? Who’s who’s who’s your money on?” And he said, “Brian.” And we said, “Brian hasn’t been here yet.” Said, “Oh, I think it was Johnny.” So, you get getting mistaken for the past three times reigning champion. So, going well. [Music] Someone’s having trouble here. I think it’s Steph. I think he’s unclipped. Up. I saw that on clipster. I’m lucky. [Music] Don’t know about these guys suffering, but I think I’m getting blistered for ringing this bell. The sacrifices you make. [Music] This a this crazy corner. Push, push, push, push, push, push, hold on, hold it on. [Music] We’re getting towards the business end now. The field’s usually staffed towards the previous year’s fastest riders. So, the last five or six should be the quick ones. Here comes Bri right on right on queue. [Music] [Music] That was Bri who’s won the Stevie Goodins Memorial Trophy the last three years off the trot, which is the fastest protet rider. Everybody seems to smile when they’re going back down the hill. [Music] Grandad Watts. Colin Atinson. Right. He was going quickly. [Music] [Music] [Music] Come closer. Come closer. [Music] He was obviously going deep as he nearly hit me. Wasn’t even know where he was going. How was that, Graeme? All right. How was it? That was absolute hell. Really bad. But the steep bit hard enough then you crown that in just a headwind. You just feel like you’re not moving. Yeah. Coughing along and not moving. [Music] So I think you must have clipped all four times. I know. And I kept trying to stab my body in, but I caught the guy in front of me, which is what we got out three or four times. Yeah. I kept thinking, what? I don’t know. I thought he’d give up. I thought he was giving up and getting off his bike. I’ll give it the all light whether it was that wasn’t ide. Yeah, it was just ridiculous. It was me. Enjoy it. Now you finished. All right. [Music] I appreciate you run along. Hop. Hop along. Hop along. Yes. That bad boy there. Check that bad boy out. I said that was the one I told that’s the one I was talking about before. I said pistachio and white chocolate cookie. The chef’s kiss and that’s it right there. Look at the smile on his face. It’s the only reason. It’s the only reason why he did the hill climb. He heard he was getting invited down here, man. He heard there was free coffee and cake on. So he spent 15 quid on the hill climb for a£5 coffee cake. Look at that cookie. That’s naughty. [Music] really pleased for everybody coming along for our first meal and overall event [Applause] Sarah Wilson from Blazing with a time of 4 minutes. [Applause] The second nail for the time of 333 Colin Atinson female with a time of 521 Third meal with a 337 on body. Uh, third female with time 559 Deborah Jeff first Mar first B50 with a time of 355 John first P 60 with a time of 452. David Le of MTR [Applause] [Music] second also project Jamie R and [Music] 82 kg plus sound go with a time very good time 356 One one final thing we have our own internal competition. Uh this this is our trophy of climb championships in memory of good friend Steve. So this is the steward memorial trophy which I bought again to Brian. [Applause] [Music] Yeah. Yeah, I mean I felt as if I power isn’t too bad time. So my choice on me legs my choice on me legs always have an excuse. So there we go. Another air done. And we got lucky with the weather again from a spectator’s point of view anyway. It’s hard work apparently the headwind at the top. So from Ludworth, ciao for now.
