Hello, new to mountain biking.
I bought a specialized rockhopper with an xcm sr suntour fork from someone and im having troubles with the lockout dial and preload dial since they do nothing when moved

The lockout dial does not make the . As i investigated futher i saw the dial does not have the right size allen key to twist the internal mechanism. I even tried manually twisting the internal mechanism with a separate Allen key, but it's just keeps twisting and twisting and the bike doesn't get stiffer

The preload dial does not change the sag of the bike at all and seems to just be broken as I took off the cap and the inside plastic was broken off.

So I just decided to completely replace both of them entirely.

Yt has almost no resources regarding this repair so I was wondering if anyone has any experience and could let me know if there is anything I should take into consideration or any tips?

I attached pictures of the parts I'm talking about

  1. Honestly I’d recommend saving up and picking up something like a Rockshox Judy Silver TK. You’d be looking for a 9×100 QR spacing model. You can get one with up to 120mm of travel for the rockhopper. It would be a pretty big upgrade from that fork, and be a good bit lighter.

  2. On a fork like the XCM, those knobs are more or less cosmetic. Just run it until you’re ready for an upgrade, then replace it.
