Hello everyone! I'm currently nineteen days into my cycling journey after stepping away from bikes for a decade. Eleven days ago I set the goal to complete a twelve mile bike ride (in less than an hour) within thirty days. I just completed that ride!!! Setting these realistic short term goals and actually hitting them has me feeling on top of the world!
I'm currently averaging one ride every three days, distances varying from eight miles to twelve miles. I know my pace is not impressive, but being heavy and not having a cardio foundation will do that to you. I am building my conditioning from the ground up, brick by brick with these rides.
I'm also incredibly excited about the fact that I'm down from 238.8lbs (09/09/25) to 233.4lbs as of this morning (09/22/25.) My next short term goal is completing a sixteen mile ride. See y'all then!

Good job!
Congratulations 👏👏
My advice to you is to not look at the distance, but rather the time ridden. You could have a goal of completing a 1,5 hour ride, 2 hour ride etc. Of course looking at distance is fine too, but if you follow a lot of others here the distance may feel small compared to others.
well done!! you’ll smash that 16 mile!
