Is more chainlinks ok? What are the drawbacks of having more chainlinks?

Or maybe thats a typo? how can there be 20 more links on an e9 but they weigh the same?

More links mean a longer chain. I’m guessing ebikes typically have longer chainstays for stability. Just carry a bunch of quicklinks if you’re worried about your chain snapping.

  2. They aren’t necessarily stronger, just longer. A lot of ebikes have an extended rear end for carrying cargo, or just longer stays because of the motor, so they may need a few extra links. Your bike will use the same number of links no matter what type of chain you buy, since the length is determined by your chainstays, and your largest cassette sprocket and largest chainring.
